Gas Line FAQ
Many appliances (fridges, stoves, furnaces, water heaters, etc.) that run on electric or propane are generally inefficient because of the time it takes to heat up. They also have a high energy output which can increase utility bills. Natural gas appliances help reduce costs and although more costly upfront, can help decrease costs over time and improve home value.
The typical price range for a renovation gas line can cost between $500-$1,500 CAD including the cost of a permit, labor, materials and transportation. This price is considered a competitive price in the Calgary area.
All gas lines installed require a permit to be pulled. Gas line permits can only be pulled by a licensed Class A or Class B gas fitter.
If your rural property is connected to a natural gas pipeline, and a meter is installed according to Alberta Farm fuel and rural utility programs, your gas line will cost no more than an urban residential gas line. Keep in mind the additional piping for large in home and underground gas lines will be accompanied by an additional charge.
It is recommended that home owners contact a licensed gas fitter to provide a diagnosis to fix the line. Call Scottco Gas Ltd. directly at 4033694277.
